Hey guys..

Do you all have musical instruments at home that are not used already? Recorders, harmonicas, guitars or just anything small and usable can be used greatly in the ministry of Cambodia. We need it and if you have some, you can bring it this friday(30/10/09), just pass it to jiahao. Thanks!! and its amazing what God can do with things like these:).

( P.S If you have any inquiries, do contact Jiahao okay! Thanks again).

*.* Calling for Street Soccer Team Players *.*

Hey people. Exams are over eh? I am starting a street soccer team. God willing, a field soccer team. It is exclusive for people aged 11 to 15. Our criteria is very simple:

1. The players must be committed.
2. The players must be committed.
3. The players must be committed.

We are only looking for one thing. Commitment. You cannot say, "Ok, I'll give it a try." We need a clear and firm 'Yes'. You cannot say, "I want to join" but then when got training you go Timbuktu. We do not care if the player is unfit, like me. Because fitness can be trained. Use this as a platform to get your friends to start coming to church.
To know more, please contact me at 98996652 or markanking@hotmail.com.

Cheers,
MARKanking

*.* Draw Your Sword *.*

The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
— Ephesians 6:17

The one piece of armor that is both offensive and defensive is the sword. When I go into battle, I don't beat my enemy with my shield or try to defeat him with my belt or chase him down with my sandal or throw my helmet at him. I pull my sword out of the sheath and I use it.

Ephesians 6:17 tells us to take up the sword of the Spirit. When we are tempted, the most effective weapon that God has given to us as believers is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

Jesus modeled this so beautifully during His temptation in the wilderness. When the devil tried temptation after temptation against Him, Jesus used the sword of the Spirit (see Luke 4:1–13). The devil said, "Why don't you turn a rock into a piece of bread. I know you are hungry."

Jesus said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.' "

Then the devil said, "Why don't you worship me right now?"

Jesus responded, "It is written, 'You shall worship the Lord God only. Him only you shall serve.' "

"Why don't you cast yourself off of here, and the angels will catch you," Satan said, quoting Scripture out of context.

Jesus responded, bringing the Scripture back into context, "It has been said, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God.' "

The sword of the Spirit works. So draw your sword, Christian.

*.* Celebrities and Heroes *.*

But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.
Matthew 6:3-4

We hear the word "hero" thrown around a lot today. If a person is a great athlete, adept at a certain sport, we will call him or her a sports hero. There is a computer game called "Guitar Hero." And then there is the sandwich we call a hero. We hear the word used a lot. But do we even know what it means? It seems to me that in our culture we have many celebrities, but very few heroes.

A hero is a person who does something selfless, something sacrificial. A hero is someone who puts the needs of others above his or her own. Sometimes heroes are known in their own lifetime for their achievements. Then there are times people are called heroes long after they are gone. In this case, we sometimes call them unsung heroes, because we didn't realize how heroic they were until after some time had passed. The stand they took wasn't the popular thing to do at the time, but in retrospect, we realize they were heroic—they really were doing the right thing when no one else was.

Unsung heroes are sometimes wives and at other times are husbands. Sometimes they are children. But more often they are parents. Unsung heroes can be teachers, coaches, uncles or aunts. Grandparents are automatically heroes in my book, unless they do something to mess that up. An unsung hero is someone who works behind the scenes and doesn't care if another person gets the credit. Sometimes unsung heroes are sidekicks. Where would Sherlock Holmes be without the faithful Dr. Watson? Where would the Lone Ranger without Tonto?

There are a lot of unsung heroes who never get the credit. And though they may be unknown to us, they are completely known to God.

HEY EVERYONE!
just wanted to encourage you all for the coming(or that has already came) exams. i've learnt that studying hard isn't just about self-satisfaction or gain, or pleasing your parents. but it's a matter of testimony. we have to remember to be the light and salt of the earth, and in this case, of our classroom.

and it isn't about the grades, it's the effort. so just do your best and let God do the rest!(:

all the best!:D

*.* Strength in weakness *.*

We love the exciting aspects of the Christian life—except for the suffering. But Paul wrote, "Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution" (2 Timothy 3:12).

If you want to be used by God, then you will be attacked. If you want to mix in with the crowd and never stand up for your faith in Christ, then you probably will not have much opposition. But if you say, "I want my life to make a difference. I want to stand up for Jesus Christ wherever I am," then you will face opposition.

Paul faced a lot of it—from unexpected sources. He said,
I have worked harder, been put in prison more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again. Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty-nine lashes. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. . . . I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not. (2 Corinthians 11:23–26)

In spite of this, Paul stated, "I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death" (Philippians 3:10). Part of knowing God is not only in the power of His resurrection, but also in His suffering.

God can work through human weakness and suffering. But if you face calamity, if you have a physical infirmity or challenge and can still rejoice and praise God, then that is a powerful witness. And in some ways it can be more powerful than the person who has no infirmity at all.

In Love,
Yu Fei
